For Doctors

Dr Alexander provides consultative services in all areas of gastroenterology.  Areas of interest include colorectal cancer prevention, Gastro-oesophageal Reflux Disease (GORD), Barrett’s oesophagus, inflammatory bowel disease, functional gut disorders and the diagnosis and management of benign and malignant pancreatico-biliary diseases.

Dr Alexander is particularly interested in interventional endoscopy and undertakes Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR) of complex pre-malignant lesions/polyps and early stage mucosal malignancies throughout the gastrointestinal tract.  He undertakes endoscopic dilatation of benign strictures, such as Crohn’s-related strictures, and palliative stenting of advanced gastrointestinal cancers. These and other complex endoscopic cases are performed during dedicated endoscopy lists within both the public and private systems. Referring doctors are welcome to discuss these cases directly with Dr Alexander.

Referring doctors are encouraged to forward patient referrals to the practice via the encrypted messaging system Referral-Net or fax at the earliest possible time.  All new referrals are triaged and more urgent cases will be offered earlier appointment times. Doctors are also encouraged to highlight the nature of clinical urgency and/or contact the practice to discuss individual cases. Dr Alexander welcomes eligible patients wishing to participate in the Telehealth programme. However, it is essential that Dr Alexander receives a referral prior to arranging a Telehealth consultation to ensure its suitability for the patient in question.

Correspondence relating to all patient consultations will be forwarded to the referring doctor, electronically if preferred, usually within two working days of the consultation date.
