Dr Emily Prewett is a consultant gastroenterologist who has practiced in Geelong for over 20 years. She trained as a physician and gastroenterologist at St Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne and then at the Royal Free Hospital in London. She was a primary instigator in setting up the Liver Clinic which manages viral hepatitis at the Geelong Hospital. She also was instrumental in commencing the provision of ERCP in Geelong. Dr Prewett is involved in teaching medical students and resident staff at Geelong Hospital. She has an appointment as a clinical senior lecturer at Deakin University.
Services Provided
Dr Prewett provides consultative services in all areas of gastroenterology and performs diagnostic and therapeutic gastroscopy and colonoscopy. Her special interests are colon cancer prevention, familial colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, acute and chronic liver disease and hepatocellular carcinoma. She is is re-accredited for colonoscopy with GESA (Gastroenterology Society of Australia). She is accredited in these procedures by the conjoint committee for the recognition of training in gastrointestinal endoscopy.
Dr Prewett has admitting rights at Geelong Hospital and St John of God Hospital.
