For Patients

Overview
Dr Alvin Ting is one of seven gastroenterologists practising from the Geelong Gastroenterology Specialist Consulting Rooms. His rooms are open Monday to Thursdays, 8:30am to 5:30pm.

If for any reason you are unable to attend an appointment, please notify the practise as soon as is practical.

Emergency after hours and weekend cover is shared between all gastroenterologists.

Please note that if you are admitted to University Hospital Geelong as a public patient, doctors other than Dr Ting will be involved in your care and management.

Referrals

All patients attending a consultation with Dr Ting require a valid referral from their General Practitioner or other referring doctor.

Patients are encouraged to forward the referral to Dr Ting’s office as soon as possible, including the results of investigations that have been performed. This will allow appropriate triage allocation and timing of appointments.

Fees

Consultation:

Consultation fees vary with the complexity and duration of the consultation. All consultations attract a Medicare rebate which will be processed on the same day. Full payment of fee is required on the day of consultation. Payment can be made by Cash, Cheque, and Credit Card. EFTPOS facilities are available.

Endoscopy:

Privately insured patients will not incur an out of pocket expense for endoscopy, as the fees relating to any procedure will be charged directly to the Health Fund.

Anaesthetic fees are billed separately by the attending anaesthesiologist.

Uninsured patients will be referred to the public lists at University Hospital Geelong. However, if uninsured patients elect to have procedures done privately, exact details regarding the out of pocket costs will be discussed during consultation prior to the procedure being booked.
